Steven assumed the role of director/arranger for The Pot Luck Dinner. Wonderful director Carmen Lamar chose Steven’s arrangement of Jitterbug, Optimistic Voices, Merry Old Land Of Oz and Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Steven created a tiny “script” for the kids- who performed beautifully. Prior to the show, was a Poetry Slam and following the show was the pot luck dinner.  Great to catch up with incoming students, and old friend, Andrea Burns.  Kudos to Morgan for stepping in to the role of the Lion.  and BRAVO! to everyone involved.

Steven served as arranger, editor and music director for the PS 6 grade graduation.  Another great group of talented, smart and creative young men and women.  This year they added to the repertoire Pharrell Williams HAPPY- challenging and rewarding and we used an edited version of Hall of Fame by the script, with additional editing by Christian Castro for their slide show.  Always amazed at the progress of these kids!!!

Last week I was fortunate to play cocktail piano for the pre wedding party for Michael Sutton and Kevin Sweeney at the beautiful home of friend and colleague Stephanie Scott.  It was a wonderful party with great people.

I had the pleasure of accompanying the Kids  Company from the Upper West Side YWCA under the wonderful supervision of Benjamin Ashe and Megan MacPhee. The very talented youngsters sang “Why We Tell the Story,” (from Once on This Island), and “When I Grow Up,” (From Matilda). I had the pleasure of accompanying five time Tony nominee Kelli O’Hara at the Irish Arts Center benefit.  Kelli sang “Make Someone Happy” and “Someone To Watch Over Me.”  For more information about the benefit, click here

It was great fun to play for my old student Amy Marik at The West End at 11:30 pm.  Songs she played included Piece of My Heart, Maybe I Like It This Way (from the Wild Party), Ruination (from We Foxes, by Ryan Scott Oliver), Soon (from Thumbelina), I Hate Men (from Kiss Me Kate), Comic World, Wonderful (from Olympus on My Mind), You Don’t Know, I’m Not Pregnant, I’m Just Fat (from RRRED, by Katie Thompson), I’ll Be Here (from Ordinary Days, by Adam Gwon), Twisted (by Ross N. Gray).  Click here  for more info about The West End Lounge.

The fifth show: Annie, Wizard of Oz, Phantom Toll Booth, Alice Jr. and now Peter Pan Jr.

It was great seeing this Wednesday’s Child (from 2011) mentioned on NBC today!

It was wonderful to have my parents at the 4-12-14 concert at the Church. Irene Jay and I added a Mack and Mabel segment to these two concerts. Two nice concerts!
